The BTC-40 features an ultra light composite chassis coupled with a novel movement that keeps inertia low and results in a fast smooth action. It is configurable with a high definition 450 line daylight sensor, a 0.0003 Lux lowlight sensor, or a dual sensor with a simulated 3:1 zoom.
Aiming can be done manually or by a GPS directed autopilot referencing the attitude and altitude of the aircraft allowing the camera to point to any designated GPS location and stay there if desired. With standard servo pulse code operation the Ball Turret Camera is easy to install with "plug and play" simplicity. The structure is built from a combination of carbon fiber composite and G-10 fiberglass components. The polymer ball and camera mount are suspended by a machined aluminum yoke that rotates on sealed ball bearings for high speed and smooth movement. At rotational speeds over 400° per second and a range of just over +-180° (from center) for a total of 380° of rotation. Equally fast elevation speed with a range of 90° offers the flexibility and accuracy needed for auto aiming and tracking with small UAV's.

The BTC-40 is now available with a full 1080P 30 sensor. Weighing just over 105 grams with onboard microSD slot recording for up to 30 minutes of full 1080 recording. The sensor also provides NTSC video output for live FPV transmitting. With simple switching the sensor can be triggered remotely for video capture and to take 5 megapixel still images.
The BTC-40 Retract is a fully retractable sensor option that does not require additional skids for protection. The retracting mechanism has an over center lock in the up position that is reliable and robust.
Optional Beetle Wing doors seal the sensor when they are not in use protecting the gimbal, but add very little additional drag when in the open position during a flight.

The BTC-40 Dual Sensor features two micro cameras that have different lens configurations. This provides either a zoom condition or can switch between a lowlight level black and white and color EO sensor.
